Charleston Radio Control Society
About
Our club is over forty years old and you can still find original members actively flying on most weekends as well as on weekdays.
The Charleston Radio Control Society (CRCS) will help you understand the fundamentals of Radio Control (RC) flying, provide instructor
training, and explain our safety practices.
The atmosphere is low-key and relaxed. The emphasis is on having a good time and
enjoying the companionship of others. It is often the case that members spend some time at the field without bringing a plane
to fly.
The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) provides us all with liability insurance
and also insures the landowner of our flying
field.
We have a fine flying field that is maintained by volunteers and does not require member participation to maintain. We
also have access to an outstanding floatplane site located in Ridgeville, SC. This is another facet of our hobby that is growing
in popularity.
The CRCS Flying Field is located 1.2 miles south of Ridgeville, SC on Highway 27. Look for the sign at the entrance
on the right side of the road. A map is provided in your Membership Package when you join the club.
Everyone is invited and
encouraged to attend our monthly meetings. Meetings are normally held on the first Monday of each month (with exceptions) at
the Charleston County Regional Library (in the Meeting Room), 6325 Dorchester Road, N. Charleston, SC.
Monthly meetings start at 7:00pm
and end at 8:00pm. The library is located directly across from N. Charleston Fire Department, Station 5 approximately 1.5 miles
from the Charleston AFB Main Gate on Dorchester Road (going towards Charleston, SC).
Whatever your choices are, you can find others
with the same interests at the Charleston Radio Control Society.
