THE HISTORY BEHIND THE TRADITIONAL KISS
The "Kiss" started when Ken Gulliford had helped Bill Herrmann construct and test fly a "Spitfire". After the test flight, Bill was so happy that he said "I could kiss you" and Ken said "put'er there" while offering his cheek. Thus began the tradition of Bill Herrmann giving Ken Gulliford a "Kiss" for helping him build and test fly his models.
Here's a couple of pictures of Bill's "P-47 Thunderbolt" that Ken Gulliford assembled and test flew.
